Liliana Rosa

Me:

The unexpected always captivated me.

In computer systems, the unexpected has an important impact on performance that cannot be disregarded.

My research revolves around methodologies that help systems deal with the unexpected. Existing methodologies demand a large effort from developers. What singles out my research is recognizing that the developers' and managers' knowledge is different, and taking advantage of that when dealing with runtime changes.

Currently, I'm a PhD student in Instituto Superior Técnico. I'm also part of ADAAS project team.

Research:

I'm part of the Distributed Systems Group in INESC-ID, an R&D institution.

I work on adaptive systems and autonomic computing, mixing both principles from software engineering areas and distributed systems. Right now, my efforts are focused on the open source distributed data grid Infinispan and in the past I contributed to the Appia communication framework.
