The legend says that Lisbon was named by Ulysses as Ulissipo or Olissopo, which has its origins in the Phoenician words "Allis Ubbo", meaning "enchanting port".

The conference takes place in the Instituto Superior Técnico (most renowned engineering school in Portugal) of the Technical University of Lisbon, near the centre of Lisbon.
