Ricardo Filipe

My name is Ricardo Jorge Duarte Filipe and i'm from the gold generation of 1987 :D

Past:

I completed my Bachelor in Computer Science at ESTG/IPL (Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão / Instituto Politécnico de Leiria).

My graduation project was "Signal processing on the GPU", under the advisory of professor Gustavo Reis.

I finished my MsC in Computer Science in 2010 at Instituto Superior Técnico under the advisory of professor João Barreto.

My dissertation delved on the subject of deduplication for the Web, detection of redundant traffic. I hope to see it applied on our Web browsers some day ;)

Present:

I'm currently a PhD student at Instituto Superior Técnico also under the advisory of professor João Barreto. My PhD regards the investigation of how parallel nesting of transactions can be fully supported by state-of-the-art Software Transactional Memory.

Hobbies:

I spend most of my free time playing Magic The Gathering, either in real life or online (contact me for some matches ;)).

I'm also a supporter of the Wine project and i have done many of the portuguese (Portugal) translations for it, besides working on some minor features.
